Bengaluru: In a tragic incident, a techie couple died by suicide late Monday evening within the jurisdiction of the Kothanur police station at the upscale Nikoo Homes residential complex in Bhartiya City, Bengaluru.

The deceased have been identified as Bhanu Chander Reddy Kunta (32) and his wife Bibi Shaziya Siraj (31), both natives of Telangana who had been residing in Bengaluru for several years while working in the IT sector.

According to preliminary police findings, the incident unfolded in two stages inside Tower 6 of the apartment complex. Investigators believe that Bhanu Chander first died by suicide by hanging inside their residence. Shortly after discovering her husband’s body, Shaziya, reportedly in a state of distress, went up to the 17th floor of the building and jumped to her death.

Police have registered two separate Unnatural Death Reports under Section 194 of the BNSS.

The couple had been married for nearly nine years after initially being in a live-in relationship. They had been living in the Bhartiya City apartment for over a year. While Shaziya was employed with a multinational technology company, Bhanu Chander was reportedly unemployed for some time.

Preliminary inquiries indicate that the couple had been facing ongoing domestic issues, and Bhanu Chander was also dealing with certain health concerns.

The Kothanur police, under the North East Division, have launched a detailed investigation. Officials are examining digital records, personal history, and other evidence to ascertain the exact sequence of events leading to the tragedy.

Authorities have urged the public to seek support in times of distress, emphasizing the importance of mental health awareness and timely intervention.
