New Transport Authority to Plan 10 Years Ahead, Monitor Projects Above ₹500 Crore
New Delhi: A new Integrated Transport and Logistics Authority will prepare a master plan looking more than ten years ahead and monitor infrastructure projects with an outlay exceeding ₹500 crore, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said after Cabinet approval on October 6.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the Integrated Transport and Logistics Authority, or ITLA, would bring greater coordination, data-led planning and multimodal integration across India’s transport system.
Long-term planning and project monitoring
Shah said ITLA would map India’s future infrastructure requirements through a 10-plus-year master plan and help meet demand arising from economic growth.
He said the authority would monitor projects with a plan outlay above ₹500 crore and seek timely resolution of issues affecting them.
Modi described the Cabinet decision as one with a wide-ranging impact on India’s growth trajectory. The announcements put coordination across different modes of transport and the use of data in planning at the centre of the new authority’s role.
