BENGALURU: Lokayukta police reported two separate bribery traps in Kodagu and Kalaburagi, involving a KGID official allegedly accepting ₹25,000 and a police constable allegedly receiving ₹3,000 through PhonePe.
Both accused were taken into custody, according to the respective police updates, and investigations are continuing.
In Kodagu, Hemakumar S C, identified as DIO, KGID, allegedly demanded ₹25,000 in connection with the payment of a sanctioned insurance amount. Acting on a complaint from Rohini B S of Madikeri, Lokayukta police laid a trap and said they caught him while accepting the money.
Case number 08/2026 was registered under Section 7(b) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, as amended in 2018. Deputy Superintendent of Police Dinakar Shetty and his staff conducted the operation.
In Kalaburagi, Lokayukta police took Anil, a civil police constable attached to Sulepet Police Station, into custody after he allegedly demanded and accepted ₹3,000 through PhonePe.
The complaint was lodged by Chandrakant, son of Devindrappa, from Gadikeshwar village in Chincholi taluk. The police update did not specify the work for which the alleged bribe was demanded.
Case number 23/2026 was registered under Section 7(a) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, as amended in 2018. Police Inspector Ravi Pawar and his staff conducted the trap.
Investigations into both cases are under way.
