BENGALURU: In the midst of scorching summer temperatures, a female resident of Vyalikaval in Malleswaram is suspected to have contracted cholera. She presented symptoms of severe vomiting and diarrhea, prompting medical professionals to send her samples for testing while she receives treatment at a private hospital.
Although the woman initially displayed symptoms of cholera, her stool sample tested negative. As a result, further tests are being conducted. Health officials are diligently gathering information about her recent travel history and reaching out to individuals who may have had contact with her.
Health officials have conducted a survey of 165 homes near the suspected patient’s residence, raising awareness about the disease’s transmission, emphasizing the importance of using boiled and cooled water, and promoting hand hygiene. Fortunately, none of the residents in these homes have shown any signs of cholera.
Meanwhile, BBMP health officials have collected 10 water samples from suspected locations for testing. All health professionals and medical staff are on high alert, with hotels, restaurants, and cafes instructed to provide customers with boiled water. Additionally, all government and private hospitals must upload patient details to the Integrated Health Information Platform (IHIP) portal.
BBMP Special Health Commissioner, Vikas Kishor Suralkar emphasized the importance of staying hydrated and wearing appropriate clothing during the summer months. “Hotels, restaurants, and cafes” are reminded to prioritize customer safety by providing boiled water.
