Among DyCM’s directions: Strengthen 1912 helpline, automate bed allotment, create Integrated Index app

BENGALURU:

Deputy Chief Minister Dr CN Ashwath Narayan, who heads the state Covid Task Force, has directed officials in charge of Covid management to resolve the glitches in the 1912 helpline, create an automated and transparent bed allotment system, and develop an Integrated Index app, all within two days.

At a meeting on Monday with the officials concerned, Narayan said the Covid helpline should be strengthened so as to receive all calls. For this, its line capacity should be increased. Further, call centres of private telecom companies can be roped in to manage calls. This will help resolve the confusion arising out of the current unprofessional management of calls, he suggested.

Bed-blocking has become a major problem and there is a lack of transparency in the bed allocation system. This should be made automated and transparent. As and when the patient gets admitted and discharged, the data should be automatically updated on a real-time basis, Narayan stressed.

“At present, the captured data with regard to Covid is split among many set-ups and available in only bits and pieces. There are several set-ups such as 1912 helpline, Aptha Mitra, Step 1 hospitals, Step 2 centres, zonal level, Primary Health Centres, Home Isolation, 104, 108 and so on, which are all engaged in pandemic management. But the data collected in these set-ups is not being shared and integrated. This should be immediately sorted out by creating an ‘Integrated Index App’, which would serve as a single common platform,” the DyCM said.

We also discussed integrating all services under one platform & to triaging the data to track and guide home isolated patients.

Integrating 'Aptamitra' services is another priority. In view of rising cases, effective mitigation steps are being taken.

About 92% of Covid-affected are being home isolated and only 8% require hospital admission. In view of this, caring for the home isolated should be made systematic. If the home isolated are neglected and kept out of the loop of Covid management, it will lead to anxiety amongst them, he noted.

Narayan assured the officials that any required orders to implement the recommended measures will be issued immediately by the government.

Gaurav Gupta, Chief Commissioner, BBMP, P Pradeep, Secretary to the DyCM, Covid war room in-charge and senior IAS officer Tushar Giri Nath, Kumar Pushkar and other officials were present.
