Yathindra Siddaramaiah Hopeful of Cabinet Berth, Rules Out Deputy CM Aspirations
New Delhi, June 1: Congress MLC Yathindra Siddaramaiah, son of former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, has expressed confidence about being inducted into the Karnataka Cabinet, stating that he remains hopeful following assurances received from the party high command.
Speaking to reporters in Delhi, Yathindra Siddaramaiah said that during his previous meeting with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, he was assured that his interests would be taken care of and that he would be accommodated in the state Cabinet.
“Last time I met the high command, Rahul Gandhi told me that my interests would be taken care of. He also said that I would be inducted into the Cabinet. Therefore, I am hopeful,” Yathindra Siddaramaiah said.
The Congress leader further stated that he would be satisfied with any responsibility assigned to him by the party leadership.
“Whatever portfolio is given to me, I will be happy,” he added.
When asked whether he was seeking the post of Deputy Chief Minister in the Karnataka government, Yathindra Siddaramaiah categorically denied any such aspirations.
“No,” he replied when questioned about the possibility of being considered for the Deputy Chief Minister’s position.
His remarks come amid continuing speculation over a possible Cabinet reshuffle and expansion in Karnataka, with several Congress legislators and party leaders reportedly awaiting decisions from the party’s central leadership regarding ministerial appointments.
The issue of Cabinet expansion has remained a subject of discussion within the ruling Congress, as several senior leaders and legislators are hopeful of being accommodated in the state government.
While the Congress high command has not officially announced any decisions regarding Cabinet appointments, Yathindra Siddaramaiah’s comments have added fresh momentum to the ongoing political discussions surrounding the future composition of the Karnataka Cabinet.
