BENGALURU: The first prototype of the driverless Metro train is already undergoing trials and the second prototype for the yellow line is likely to arrive in the city in August.
The day is not too far for Namma Metro passengers of Bengaluru when they can travel on a driverless train. Namma Metro is already conducting tests on the first prototype, which will be run on the yellow line, and is being checked every day for convenience of the drivers.
Meanwhile, BMRCL officials said that the second driverless Metro train will arrive from the Titagarh company in West Bengal in August, and preparations have already started. A team of officials who have arrived from China are engaged in the trials at Hebbagodi Metro Station and providing information to officials here about it.
The first prototype had already arrived at Hebbagodi from China in February this year. Viaducts has been installed for the 33K electric cable and experts are checking for loopholes and technical errors during the tests. They also testing the speed and travel time from one station to another.
The BMRCL officials are preparing to start commercial service on the yellow line by the end of September after the successful completion of the trials.
