In a determined effort to prevent the extinction of the ocelot in the United States, scientists are implementing advanced fertility treatments and various initiatives to increase the population of the endangered wild cat. Once abundant in the southwestern U.S. in the 1800s, the ocelot’s numbers have dwindled to fewer than 100, concentrated in small breeding populations in South Texas.
