Bengaluru, June 10: Bengaluru Police have busted an interstate vehicle theft racket with the arrest of four accused and the recovery of three stolen goods vehicles and three two-wheelers worth a total of ₹16.5 lakh.

The case was registered at Parappana Agrahara Police Station following a complaint filed by a resident of G.R. Homes Layout, Rayasandra on May 19, 2026. The complainant stated that he had parked his goods vehicle in front of his furniture shop at Singasandra on the night of May 18. When he returned the next morning, he found that unknown persons had stolen the vehicle.

Based on the complaint, police registered a vehicle theft case and launched an investigation.

During the probe, police pursued multiple leads and gathered intelligence from informants. Acting on specific information, officers apprehended three suspects near Kudlu Gate on Hosur Road on May 25, along with one stolen two-wheeler. Another accused was later arrested near his residence at Srirampura.

During interrogation, all four accused allegedly confessed to stealing the vehicle involved in the case. Further questioning revealed that the gang had been involved in the theft of three goods vehicles and three motorcycles from different locations across Bengaluru.

On May 26, all four accused were produced before a court. Three of them were taken into 10 days of police custody for further interrogation, while the fourth accused was remanded to judicial custody.

Police said the accused disclosed that some of the stolen two-wheelers had been hidden in a vacant area behind Huskur Fruit Market for resale. They also revealed that two stolen goods vehicles had been parked near Gangai Amman Temple at Padarami Village in Tamil Nadu’s Vellore district, while another goods vehicle had been abandoned near Hosur Road in Namapattanam, Tamil Nadu.

Based on the information provided by the accused, police conducted recovery operations between May 27 and June 2, leading to the recovery of:

  • 03 Goods Vehicles
  • 03 Two-Wheelers (including one seized during the arrest)

The vehicles were recovered from locations in Bengaluru as well as Tamil Nadu.

Police estimated the total value of the recovered vehicles at approximately ₹16.50 lakh.

Investigators said the arrests have also helped solve multiple pending vehicle theft cases, including:

  • 02 vehicle theft cases registered at Parappana Agrahara Police Station
  • 01 vehicle theft case registered at Mico Layout Police Station
  • 01 vehicle theft case registered at Bangarpet Police Station

Police added that the owners of two recovered vehicles are yet to be identified and further investigation is underway.

The operation was carried out under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Electronic City Division) M. Narayana, IPS, and under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner of Police (Electronic City Sub-Division) Sathish R.

The investigation team, led by Police Inspector Naveen Kumar P.G. of Parappana Agrahara Police Station, along with officers and staff, played a key role in tracing the interstate gang, recovering the stolen vehicles and solving multiple vehicle theft cases.

Police said the operation highlights effective interstate coordination and intelligence-based policing in tracking down organised vehicle theft networks operating across state borders.
