Bengaluru Customs Seizes ₹1.37 Crore Worth Gold at Airport; Dubai Passenger Arrested
Bengaluru: Bengaluru Customs has busted a major gold smuggling attempt at Kempegowda International Airport, seizing 899.50 grams of 24K gold valued at approximately ₹1.37 crore from a passenger arriving from Dubai.
According to customs officials, the gold was ingeniously concealed in four capsules containing gold paste. During a detailed examination of the passenger and baggage, officers recovered the concealed gold and initiated legal proceedings.
The passenger was subsequently arrested under the provisions of the Customs Act for attempting to smuggle the precious metal into the country.
Customs officials stated that efforts to curb gold smuggling through international airports are being intensified, with advanced surveillance and intelligence-based operations helping detect such attempts.
The investigation is continuing to ascertain whether the accused was part of a larger smuggling network operating through international routes.
