Greater Bengaluru Authority Targets ₹6,700 Crore in Property Tax, Pushes for e-Khata Expansion
Bengaluru: The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) has set an ambitious property tax collection target of ₹6,700 crore for this year, of which ₹3,217 crore has already been collected, according to Special Commissioner (Revenue) Munish Moudgil.
Speaking at the first consultation meeting held at the IPP Centre in Malleswaram, Moudgil revealed that over 2.75 lakh property owners owe ₹786 crore in unpaid taxes. Electronic demand notices have been served to these defaulters, and city corporations have been instructed to intensify efforts to recover dues, especially from high-value properties with large arrears.
E-Khata Access Expanded for Citizens
Highlighting digitisation efforts, Moudgil said that 25 lakh properties in Bengaluru have access to draft e-Khata documents online, making ownership verification and property transactions easier. So far, 7.5 lakh final e-Khatas have been distributed to property owners.
Revenue Targets and Virtual Reviews
GBA Chief Commissioner Maheshwar Rao emphasised that to streamline property tax collection and e-Khata issuance, Commissioners of all city corporations must actively participate in daily virtual meetings chaired by the Special Commissioner (Revenue). These meetings are designed to ensure accountability and faster progress toward revenue goals.
