Belagavi: A shocking incident has emerged from the village of Ukka in Belagavi district, where a father is accused of poisoning his 15-day-old infant. The child’s mother, Sheila, has alleged that her husband, Bhimaraya, administered poison to their newborn, who was born just two weeks ago.

Background details reveal that Sheila was residing at her parental home. On March 17, Bhimaraya visited his wife and child, spending some time with them before returning to his village. Shortly after his departure, the baby suddenly died, raising alarm among family members.

Despite the infant’s previous good health, the unexpected death has left many questioning the cause. Sheila and her relatives have accused Bhimaraya of bringing a small tablet and giving it to the child.

The situation escalated when Bhimaraya went missing following the incident, complicating the case further. Family members expressed their outrage by placing the deceased infant’s body in front of the BIMS hospital.

As tensions rose, Deputy Commissioner of Police Narayan Baramani visited the scene to assess the situation. Authorities stated that the true circumstances surrounding the death would be revealed after the post-mortem report is released. A search operation for the accused is currently underway.
