Recovery rate in city just 13 % as per BBMP
With the coronavirus spreading locally, the number of containment zones in the city is increasing rapidly, having tripled in a single week. The number of containment zones was 495 a week ago, while on Sunday it zoomed to 1,423. This number is only likely to go up in the next few days.
Thankfully, as of now the containment zones are restricted to a 50-metre radius arround the infection source. Neighbouring houses and shops are not allowed any activity or business.
As of date, the number of identified containment zones in the city is: East Zone 442, West Zone 791, South Zone 118, Dasarahalli 8, Bommanahalli 64, Yelahanka 28, Rajarajeshwari Nagar 47 and Mahadevapura 124.
Meanwhile, the BBMP bulletin reports that the recovery rate is only 13 per cent. The East, West and South zones of the city have 60 per cent of all the infections in Bengaluru.
In these hotspot zones, 5,657 infected people are being treated. Of these, 1,694 are in the East, 1,650 in the West, 2,313 in the South, 322 in Rajarajeshwari, 630 in in Bommanahalli, 630 in Yelahanka, 310 in Dasarahalli and 499 in Mahadevapura.
Meanwhile, the city saw a record 1,235 new cases on Sunday, with 16 deaths. As a result, the number of infected people has increased to 9,580, with 132 people receiving treatment in ICUs.
