CM D.K. Shivakumar Calls Upon IAS, IPS and IFS Officers to Partner Karnataka’s Growth Journey
New Delhi, June 10: Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar has called upon IAS, IPS and IFS officers serving in Delhi to actively contribute towards the all-round development of Karnataka, describing them as a crucial bridge between the state and the Central Government in ensuring effective implementation of development projects.
Addressing senior officers during an interaction and dinner meeting held at Karnataka Bhavan on Wednesday evening, the Chief Minister said the knowledge, experience and administrative expertise of civil servants could significantly accelerate Karnataka’s development agenda.
“You possess immense knowledge, talent and capability. Your strength is extraordinary. If you decide to act, the chariot of development will move forward rapidly. I urge you to channel your expertise and experience towards Karnataka’s progress,” Shivakumar said.
The Chief Minister noted that officers serving at the Centre play an important role in helping Karnataka secure benefits from various Central Government schemes and programmes.
He urged them to maintain constant communication and coordination with their counterparts in Karnataka and assist in designing and implementing development initiatives that would benefit the state.
“Your cooperation is vital in ensuring that Karnataka receives the maximum possible benefit from Central Government schemes. Stay connected with officers in the state, work together and help expedite pending projects and development programmes,” he said.
Shivakumar assured the officers that the Karnataka Government would extend all necessary support to facilitate their efforts.
The Chief Minister highlighted the difference between the tenure of elected representatives and civil servants, pointing out that while politicians face electoral challenges every five years, officers spend decades in public service and have a lasting impact on governance.
“You remain in service for nearly 35 years. Politicians have to face political battles every five years. The power to build a good reputation for a government largely rests in your hands,” he remarked.
Shivakumar said he was not interested in holding office merely for the sake of power but was determined to use his position to achieve meaningful results for the people of Karnataka.
“I am not in power for the sake of power. I believe in using authority to achieve something meaningful. With your support, no achievement is impossible,” he said.
The Chief Minister also expressed appreciation for the officers’ participation in the interaction and noted that it was his first visit to Delhi after assuming office as Chief Minister.
Senior officers present at the meeting reportedly welcomed the initiative and appreciated the Chief Minister for engaging with them soon after taking charge.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Dr. G. Parameshwara, Minister Krishna Byre Gowda, Karnataka Government’s Special Representative in Delhi T.B. Jayachandra, Chief Secretary Dr. Shalini Rajneesh, Economic Advisor to the Chief Minister L.K. Atheeq, Additional Chief Secretaries Tushar Girinath and Gaurav Gupta, Secretary Rajendra Cholan, along with several senior IAS, IPS and IFS officers serving in Delhi.
The interaction focused on strengthening coordination between Karnataka and the Centre, accelerating project implementation and leveraging administrative expertise for the state’s long-term growth and development.
