PMFBY Deadline Extended to August 31 for Karnataka’s Loanee Farmers to Register and Pay Crop Insurance Premium
Bengaluru: The deadline for loanee farmers in Karnataka to register and pay premiums under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) for the 2026 Kharif season has been extended to August 31, according to the Karnataka Department of Information and Public Relations.
The Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare issued the extension after considering a request submitted by the Karnataka government’s Additional Chief Secretary and Development Commissioner and the Agriculture Commissioner, the department said.
The additional time applies to farmers who have taken agricultural loans and are required to register for crop-insurance coverage and pay the applicable premium under the scheme.
The state government had sought the extension in the interest of farmers who could not complete the registration and premium-payment process within the earlier deadline.
Eligible loanee farmers have been advised to complete the necessary formalities within the extended period to secure crop-insurance coverage for the 2026 Kharif season.
