BENGALURU:

Alleging that the Union Government was deploying the CBI against him to pin-him down politically, KPCC president and the former state minister D K Shivakumar said that the CBI raids had been carried out on his house in the backdrop of by-elections to two state Assembly.

Addressing newsmen here on Monday, over the CBI raids, he said, “Today’s action by the Central investigation agency (CBI) was politically motivated.”

Saying that whenever elections are there, such kinds of raids happen against him, he alleged that today’s action of the CBI was also politically motivated.

Meanwhile, several Congress leaders, including former chief minister Siddaramaiah, KPCC working president Saleem Ahmed and others have condemned the raids conducted at Shivakumar’s residence.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which conducted raids in 14 places, registered a case against Shivakumar on the alleged possession of disproportionate assets to the tune of over Rs 74.93 crore in his name and in the name of his family members. (Agency)
