Bengaluru, March 7: The Bengaluru North City Corporation (BNCC) has ramped up its cleanliness and waste management efforts as part of the Swachh Survekshan 2025–26 initiative, successfully clearing 247 tonnes of waste over the past week. The campaign has mobilized thousands of citizens through a variety of awareness and sanitation drives.

Led by Commissioner Pommala Sunil Kumar, BNCC organized several programs promoting cleanliness, waste segregation at source, composting of wet waste, recycling practices, and reduction of single-use plastics.

On March 7, 2026, the BNCC hosted a “Compost Santhe” at Bande Park in Ward No. 27 (Banaswadi) under the Sarvagnanagara Division. The event attracted around 1,500 participants, including school students, members of Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs), ward leaders, sanitation staff, and senior officials such as DGMs and AGMs from various divisions. A total of 13 stalls highlighted composting solutions, waste segregation techniques, and eco-friendly alternatives.

Various organizations showcased products and services including composting solutions from Shud Labh, Pelican Kenterra, Daily Dump, and eco-friendly alternatives from Satatyug and Mitu.

Commissioner Pommala Sunil Kumar appealed to citizens to aid the BNCC’s initiatives by segregating waste at home and converting wet waste into compost, significantly reducing landfill pressure and promoting a cleaner Bengaluru.

Looking ahead, BNCC has scheduled a 6-kilometer Walkathon around Yelahanka Lake for March 8, 2026, in celebration of International Women’s Day, aimed at further enhancing public engagement in the cleanliness mission.
