Bengaluru, July 18: Bengaluru North City Corporation (BNCC) on Saturday conducted a large-scale mosquito source reduction drive as part of its efforts to prevent and control the spread of dengue, following the directions of Commissioner Pommala Sunil Kumar.
During the operation, officials identified and eliminated stagnant water sources that could serve as mosquito breeding sites in residential areas, parks, nurseries, buildings under construction, vacant sites and other public places.
Health department officials and field staff carried out inspections and created awareness among residents on dengue prevention. They advised the public to keep their homes and surroundings clean and ensure that water does not stagnate.
The corporation appealed to residents to regularly empty and clean water storage containers, properly dispose of old tyres, coconut shells and other items that can collect rainwater, keep overhead tanks and water storage containers covered, and cooperate with inspections and awareness programmes conducted by health department staff.
BNCC said it remains committed to protecting public health through continuous surveillance, elimination of mosquito breeding sources and sustained public awareness campaigns.
