Chief Commissioner Maheshwar Rao Directs Faster Execution of Bellandur Buffer Road Project
Bengaluru, July 18: Chief Commissioner Maheshwar Rao on Friday directed officials to expedite the construction of the Bellandur Buffer Road project during an inspection of various locations under the East Bengaluru City Corporation limits.
Reviewing the progress of the first phase of the project, Rao instructed officials to immediately resolve issues related to land acquisition and complete the work at the earliest.
The Bellandur Buffer Road is planned for a total length of about 18 km. In the first phase, a 12-km stretch from Marathahalli Ring Road to Varthur Kodi is being developed. Officials informed that earthwork for the road is in progress. Rao directed that the required width of the stormwater drain be reserved before road construction and instructed officials to expedite the land acquisition process based on the completed survey identifying affected properties.
During the inspection near Sakra Hospital at Devarabeesanahalli, the Chief Commissioner noted that the inadequate width of the stormwater drain has been contributing to waterlogging during the monsoon. He instructed officials to conduct a survey immediately, scientifically determine the required width and undertake widening and development of the drain accordingly.
Rao also directed officials to take necessary steps for the comprehensive development of the Bellandur Lake bund road. After reviewing the reasons for the delay, he instructed that the project be completed at the earliest.
He further directed officials to accelerate the lake bund road project by preparing an integrated design incorporating pedestrian pathways, a cycle track and other supporting infrastructure.
City Corporation Commissioner D.S. Ramesh, Chief Engineers Lokesh and Malathi, officials of the Bengaluru Development Authority, Executive Engineers and other officials of the concerned departments were present during the inspection.
