Bengaluru surge unabated with 113 new infections

City tops state in both positive (1791) and active (1207) cases

BENGALURU:

Since the last couple of days, Bengaluru has recorded the most Covid cases in the state. Thursday was no different with 113 new cases in the city. The pattern in the city is quite clear — June 21 saw 196 cases, June 22 saw 126 cases, June 23 had 107 cases and June 24 saw 173 cases.

Meanwhile, 442 positive cases were reported statewide on Thursday, while the overall tally is 10,560 cases, inclusive of 3,716 active cases.

In some relief, there were no deaths on the day in the city, but the surrounding Bengaluru Rural district reported 3 deaths out of a statewide toll of 6.

Bengaluru now has the highest number of positive cases (1,791) and active cases (1,207) in the state, as per the health department bulletin.

The Silicon City reported 30 discharges on Thursday, while there were 519 discharges statewide. ICU patients statewide are now 160.

As per the bulletin, the infected cases include 23 returnees from foreign countries like Riyadh, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Sharjah, Muscat and Qatar, and 81 from Assam, Maharashtra, Delhi, Telangana, Gujarat and West Bengal.

The district break-up of positive cases for Thursday is: Bengaluru Urban113, Kalaburagi 35, Ramanagara 33, Dakshina Kannada 29, Ballari 26, Dharwad 26, Mysuru 22, Bagalkot 18, Kodagu 18, Udupi 14, Hassan 12, Bengaluru Rural 12, Uttara Kannada 11, Vijayapura 10, Gadag 10, Haveri 10 , Mandya 9, Bidar 8, Davanagere 7, Belagavi 4, Shimoga 4, Kolar 4, Yadagiri 2, Chikkaballapur 2, Tumkur 1, Chikkamagalur 1, Chamarajanagar 1.
