Bengaluru, May 30: Bengaluru City Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh has appealed to citizens to celebrate responsibly during the IPL 2026 final and warned that strict action will be taken against those violating traffic and public safety rules during post-match celebrations.
Speaking to the media on Friday, the Police Commissioner said Bengaluru Police has issued detailed guidelines ahead of the IPL final, as large crowds are expected to celebrate if Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) emerges victorious.

Singh noted that after major sporting events, people often gather on roads, ride vehicles in groups, burst crackers and create noise late into the night, causing inconvenience to the public and violating various laws.
“We have already issued guidelines. People can celebrate at their homes, clubs, guest houses or other designated private venues. However, if anyone comes onto public roads and violates the law, strict action will be taken,” he said.
The Commissioner warned against overcrowding on vehicles, drunk driving, unauthorised processions and other activities that violate traffic regulations. He clarified that no permission has been granted for public road celebrations or victory processions.
“Celebrations should not create problems for the general public or disrupt traffic movement. We are not stopping people from celebrating, but it must be done responsibly and within the framework of the law,” Singh said.
He added that Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) across all divisions have made extensive bandobast arrangements and crowd-control measures to handle any situation arising after the match.
Bengaluru Police will also intensify checks against drunk driving and other traffic violations, particularly during the weekend and on the night of the IPL final.
The police have urged cricket fans to enjoy the occasion safely and avoid any activities that could endanger public safety or inconvenience other residents of the city.
