Bengaluru Ensures Stable Water Supply This Summer, Says BWSSB Chairman Dr Ram Prasath Manohar
Bengaluru: The city is witnessing stable and uninterrupted drinking water supply this summer, with contingency measures in place to tackle any disruption, BWSSB Chairman Dr Ram Prasath Manohar said on Thursday.
Reviewing the situation on the ground, the chairman visited areas along Kanakapura Road, including Banagirinagar and Bhuvaneshwarinagar, which had faced acute water shortages last summer. During his visit, he interacted with residents and assessed the current supply conditions firsthand.
Residents expressed satisfaction over the improved water management this year. A local resident, Subbamma from Banagirinagar, said the situation has significantly improved compared to last summer. “We faced severe water shortages last year, but this time, due to advance planning and infrastructure support by BWSSB, we are not facing any issues,” she said.
Another resident, Mallappa, noted that the installation of mini tanks and Cauvery water connections has brought considerable relief. However, he urged authorities to address pending underground drainage infrastructure in the area at the earliest.
Speaking after the inspection, Dr Manohar said that, under the directions of Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, the board has taken strict precautionary measures to ensure uninterrupted water supply across its jurisdiction.
“I review daily reports from officials regarding the city’s water supply status. Any gaps are addressed immediately. Through the effective deployment of Cauvery tanker services and mini tanks, we have ensured that citizens do not face hardship,” he said.
Senior BWSSB officials, including Chief Engineer Venkatesh, were present during the inspection visit.
