Davanagere, May 21: Sri Rama Sene national president Pramod Muthalik on Tuesday claimed that “Love Jihad” is spreading like a “virus” across the country and announced that his organisation would conduct a large-scale “Trishul Deeksha” programme for women in Hubballi on June 14.

Speaking to reporters in Davanagere, Muthalik said Sri Rama Sene had launched a dedicated helpline against alleged “Love Jihad” activities in Karnataka two years ago.

‘8,000 Calls Received in Two Years’

Muthalik claimed that the helpline had received nearly 8,000 calls over the past two years from families alleging incidents related to “Love Jihad.”

According to him, callers approached the organisation claiming that:

  • daughters had gone missing
  • sisters had been targeted
  • women from neighbourhoods had been lured

He alleged that the issue was widespread across Karnataka.

Claims of ‘Rescuing’ 4,800 Women

The Sri Rama Sene leader further claimed that over the past 20 years, the organisation had “successfully brought back” around 4,800 students and women allegedly involved in “Love Jihad” cases.

However, he did not provide any official data or evidence to support the figures mentioned.

Trishul Deeksha Programme in Hubballi

Muthalik announced that Sri Rama Sene would organise a “Trishul Deeksha” programme in Hubballi on June 14, where around 5,000 women are expected to participate.

He said the programme was being organised specifically to “fight Love Jihad.”

According to him, several women speakers and religious figures, including Sadhvi Putambari and Madhavi Latha, are expected to participate in the event.

Allegations Against Authorities

Muthalik alleged that neither the government nor the police department were adequately supporting efforts against “Love Jihad.”

Referring to the Neha Hiremath murder case, he criticised delays in the judicial process and claimed strict legal action was lacking in such cases.

He also alleged that Sri Rama Sene squads were monitoring places such as:

  • gyms
  • spas
  • beauty parlours
  • parks
  • hostels and PG accommodations

as part of their campaign against alleged “Love Jihad” activities.

The remarks are likely to trigger political debate and controversy in Karnataka ahead of the proposed event in Hubballi.
