Five Years of Siddaramaiah as CM Is Settled, Says Yathindra

Five Years of Siddaramaiah as CM Is Settled, Says Yathindra

Bengaluru: Amid persistent speculation over leadership change in the Karnataka Congress, MLC Yathindra Siddaramaiah has asserted that the party’s high command has already given a clear signal for Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to continue for the full five-year term.

Speaking to the media, Yathindra said there was “no confusion whatsoever” within the party and claimed that the debate over leadership change exists largely in media discussions. “As far as I know, no one in the political circle is discussing a change. The issue is settled,” he said.

He added that neither legislators nor the high command have sought Siddaramaiah’s removal, stressing that the party leadership has clearly indicated there will be no change at the top. “The high command may not have said it in so many words, but the signal is absolutely clear,” he remarked.

Yathindra also underlined that the government’s immediate priorities lie elsewhere, including the upcoming Budget, the State’s financial situation, and pending dues from the Centre. “Revenue inflow is not as strong as before, and the Centre has not released funds due to the State. These issues deserve more attention than political speculation,” he said.

Responding to questions related to a case involving his family, Yathindra reiterated that he had consistently maintained there was no wrongdoing and alleged that false accusations were made with political motives. He pointed out that the acceptance of a ‘B report’ vindicated his stand, while noting that the legal process is not yet fully concluded.

Meanwhile, remarks by some Congress legislators seeking clarity on power-sharing have added to political chatter. However, Deputy Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar and other senior leaders have maintained that any decision on leadership rests solely with the party high command.

Yathindra’s statement is being seen as an attempt to draw a line under the ongoing leadership debate and project stability within the ruling Congress in Karnataka.
