K.R. Nagar: The State government has launched the Praja Seva campaign so that government services reach ordinary people easily, transparently and on time, with the government going to people’s doorsteps instead of making them run around offices, Urban Development Minister and Mysuru district in-charge Minister Dr. Yathindra Siddaramaiah said on Saturday.
He was speaking after inaugurating the taluk-level Praja Seva meeting for K.R. Nagar and Saligrama taluks on the premises of the K.R. Nagar taluk office, where he also heard grievances from the public.
Yathindra said that within 100 days of coming to power, the government led by Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar had implemented several pro-people programmes, including the Bhoo Guarantee scheme to provide land to the landless, information on services through digital portals so that people can access government services easily, and free bus passes for students.
He said it was important not only that government schemes and facilities reach eligible beneficiaries, but also that the administration responds to the problems of every citizen. The main aim of the Praja Seva campaign is to make the administration more people-friendly by hearing people’s problems on the spot and finding solutions, he said, adding that such outreach programmes would narrow the gap between the public and the administration.
He urged the public to make good use of such platforms to bring their problems directly to the notice of officials, and directed officers of various departments to give priority to people’s petitions and take steps to deliver government benefits to eligible beneficiaries without delay.
e-Khata copies were symbolically distributed to beneficiaries at the programme, and the Mysuru district statistics at a glance book was released.
K.R. Nagar MLA D. Ravishankar, Zilla Panchayat CEO Yukesh Kumar, Superintendent of Police Mallikarjuna Baladandi, Additional Deputy Commissioner Aishwarya and senior officials of various departments were present.
