Karnataka Minister Madhu Bangarappa Assures Support for Higher Minimum Wages for Midday Meal Workers
Bengaluru: Question papers for the first PUC annual examination will be prepared at the State level from this year, beginning with the examination due in 2027, School Education and Literacy Minister Madhu Bangarappa said on Saturday. The government has issued an order entrusting the responsibility to the Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board (KSEAB).
The minister said the board will not conduct the examination itself. The examination will be held under the leadership of the School Education Department (Pre-University), with a uniform examination timetable prepared for all pre-university colleges in the State. The question papers will be sent to colleges in digital form on the day of the examination.
Only the first PUC practical examinations will be held according to timetables prepared at the district level. Although the question papers will be prepared at the State level, evaluation will continue to be done at the college level. Results will be published after they are reviewed and approved by the Deputy Director of the respective district.
Madhu Bangarappa said the move would allow the department to keep a watch on the quality of education at the first PUC stage itself and pave the way for an increase in the pass percentage in the second PUC examination.
He called it another step towards improving the quality of pre-university education and urged first PUC students, colleges and parents to take note of the change. Ensuring quality education for all is the government’s goal, he said.
