Bengaluru: Home, IT-BT and e-Governance Minister Priyank Kharge, who is also the Kalaburagi district in-charge Minister, has directed that a clear action plan be prepared to improve SSLC examination results in Kalaburagi district, after reviewing suggestions submitted by a team of education experts.
Kharge had earlier asked the expert team to identify why SSLC results in the district were below the expected level and recommend steps to improve them. The suggestions reviewed by the Minister were based on a preliminary assessment carried out by experts in the education sector.
Kharge stressed the need to identify gaps in the quality of learning, students’ academic progress, teachers’ methods of teaching and examination preparation in the district’s schools, and to find solutions to them.
The meeting noted that efforts to improve SSLC results should not be limited to steps taken just before the examination. Students’ learning abilities should be assessed continuously from the beginning of the academic year, their subject-wise progress monitored, and special classes and individual guidance provided to children lagging behind.
Last year, a question bank of expected questions was prepared and distributed to students in Kalaburagi district who were preparing for the SSLC examination. The Minister directed officials to collect comprehensive information on how far the question bank had helped students and improved their preparation and performance, and to assess its effectiveness so that such academic support can be designed more effectively in the coming years.
Kharge also said priority should be given to training for teachers, regular academic supervision in schools, model examinations, parents’ participation and measures to build students’ confidence about the examination.
He directed that the experts’ suggestions be examined in full and that a clear action plan with measures suited to the actual conditions in Kalaburagi’s schools be prepared, along with a system to continuously monitor its implementation and the progress in results.
The aim of the effort is to bring about a significant improvement in SSLC results by providing quality education and better academic opportunities to students in Kalaburagi district. Subhash V. Rathod and others took part in the meeting.
