Bengaluru: Singer and music director Raghu Dixit brought his folk-rock sound and popular Kannada songs to the Dasara stage in front of Mysuru Palace on October 12, with the audience joining in as he performed his best-known numbers.
The concert featured songs including “Ninna Poojege Bande Mahadeshwara”, “Hey Bhagwan”, “Munjaane Manjalli” and “Kodagana Koli Nungitta”, against the backdrop of the illuminated palace.
A return to his hometown
Addressing the gathering, Dixit said he was happy to return to Mysuru, his hometown, and have the opportunity to perform before its people. He expressed delight at the large audience gathered in front of the palace.
He recalled earlier collaborations with Bengaluru’s Ayana Dance Company and previous opportunities to perform at Mysuru Palace.
Dixit introduced the musicians accompanying him: Akshay Ganesh on violin, George Jacob on drums, Gautham Hegde on flute and Sanjay Kumar on guitar.
The programme combined the folk and rock-fusion style associated with Dixit, with younger members of the audience dancing and listeners singing along to familiar songs.
