PHCs to be nodal points for testing, monitoring and tracing; ward level committees to be involved
BENGALURU:
Bengaluru Mayor M Goutham Kumar will chair the first meeting at 3 pm on Tuesday of a ‘BBMP Task Force on Covid-19 Public Health Response’ constituted by new BBMP Commissioner N Manjunatha Prasad.
One of the key objectives of the task force is to involve the bottom rungs of the civic administration in mounting a quick response to cases testing positive so as to save lives as well as flatten the infection curve in the city.
Primary Health Centres will be the starting points for rapid antigen testing, surveillance and contact tracing.

Ward level committees can help in these activities as well as in enforcing preventive measures like wearing masks, social distancing and hand washing.
The meetings of the task force will be held on alternate days, to start with.
The task force is chaired by BBMP Commissioner Manjunatha Prasad, and comprises high-ranking BBMP officials, WHO representatives and leading medical health professionals from the government and private sector.
