Move is meant to reduce congestion, cash transactions
BENGALURU:
To prevent congestion at metro stations and reduce cash transactions, Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation (BMRCL) has increased the validity period of Namma Metro cards from 1 year to 10 years. BMRCL has also clarified that no fee needs to be paid to reactivate expired smart cards.
Previously, the cards could be reactivated only at metro stations. Now, the smart card can be recharged through BMRCL’s website, net banking and the corporation’s mobile app.
