Belagavi DCP cracks down on ‘matka’ gamblers
Kingpin among 23 held, Rs 2 lakh seized
BELAGAVI:
Within a few days of taking charge as Deputy Commissioner (Law and Order) in Belagavi city, IPS officer Vikram Marathe led a team that raided a ‘matka’ gambling den and arrested 23 persons. The sleuths recovered Rs 2 lakh in cash.
‘Matka Bulki’ kingpin Mohammed Shafi Tahsildar was among those arrested. The raid was conducted at Khanjar Galli in the heart of the city.
A case has been registered at Belagavi’s Market police station. As per the cops, around Rs 2,11,910 in cash was seized.
