Bengaluru: Bengaluru East City Corporation Commissioner D.S. Ramesh inspected proposed and ongoing road and infrastructure works at Whitefield, Nallurahalli, Gunjur, Chikka Bellandur and Mullur, directing officials to expedite land acquisition, Transferable Development Rights (TDR), revenue procedures and departmental approvals so that development projects are not delayed.

Ramesh reviewed the proposed major road widening, road development and infrastructure works at various locations within the Corporation limits and sought details from officials on project status, land acquisition, TDR and coordination with different departments. He directed officials to clear pending processes and complete works within the stipulated timeframe.

At Athashree Apartment in Whitefield, the Commissioner inspected the proposed 24-metre-wide CDP road and reviewed the land required for the project as well as pending administrative and technical procedures. He directed officials to expedite the processes and maintain strict vigil against unauthorised construction or development on the proposed road alignment, while taking precautions to protect land earmarked for the road.

At Nallurahalli Main Road, Ramesh reviewed the proposed 18-metre CDP road development and widening and the progress of land acquisition and related procedures. He also inspected a black spot where waste had accumulated and ordered its immediate clearance. Officials were told to regularly monitor the location to prevent fresh accumulation, create public awareness where required and act against violators under applicable rules.

At Gunjur T-Junction, the Commissioner directed officials to consult property owners and coordinate with them to facilitate acquisition of land required for road development and widening through TDR in accordance with applicable rules. Where trees obstruct road development, officials were instructed to follow environmental regulations and relocate them to suitable locations wherever feasible.

Officials were also directed to take traffic-management measures to minimise inconvenience to motorists and the public during road works and to coordinate with the concerned authorities to expedite pending works related to the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board.

At Gunjur Club, Ramesh reviewed the ongoing white-topping work and ordered officials to increase the pace by deploying adequate manpower and machinery. He directed that side-drain chambers be constructed with adequate dimensions and scientific design to facilitate cleaning and desilting, and that side drains be cleaned regularly to prevent silt, garbage and other waste from obstructing rainwater flow.

The Commissioner also inspected the proposed 25-metre road development at Chikka Bellandur and reviewed the land requirement, acquisition, TDR and related procedures. Officials were directed to clear pending processes and ensure that the road project progresses without delay.

In Mullur, including locations falling under Mullur Gram Panchayat outside the Bengaluru East City Corporation limits, Ramesh inspected properties that may come under land acquisition for road and infrastructure projects. He directed officials to coordinate with the concerned departments and expedite land acquisition, TDR, revenue-record and departmental-approval procedures.

Ramesh instructed officials to accord special priority to land acquisition and TDR so that development projects are not held up. Where required, officials should consult property owners and expedite acquisition through TDR or land acquisition in accordance with applicable rules, while maintaining continuous coordination with the Revenue Department, TDR Division and other departments to clear pending files and approvals.

He also said there should be no compromise on the quality of road widening, white-topping, stormwater-drain and other infrastructure works. Officials were directed to regularly inspect project sites, monitor progress and quality, and provide necessary safety measures to avoid adversely affecting public movement during construction.

The Commissioner further directed officials to plan road development and widening works to minimise inconvenience to vehicular and pedestrian movement, with proper traffic management, barricading and safety arrangements wherever necessary.

“Land acquisition and TDR processes should not become a hurdle for development works. The required land should be secured expeditiously in accordance with the applicable rules, and the pace of development works should be accelerated. Officials should conduct continuous site inspections and ensure the provision of safe, smooth and high-quality infrastructure for the public,” Ramesh said.

Bengaluru East City Corporation Additional Commissioner (Development) Lokhande Snehal Sudhakar, officials from the TDR Division and Engineering Department, and other officials were present during the inspections.
