Karnataka Congress Protesters Accuse Centre of Favouring Subhash Chandra in Loan Settlement
Bengaluru: Karnataka Congress leaders staged a protest accusing the Centre and the Union Finance Ministry of favouring Zee founder Subhash Chandra in connection with the settlement of loans which, according to the protesters, amounted to about Rs 22,006 crore.
The protesters alleged that around 99.97 per cent of the debt had effectively been waived and accused the Union government of allowing public money to be lost for the benefit of a private business group. The claims were made by the protesters and were not independently substantiated in the material provided.
They targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the matter, alleging that his government had facilitated the settlement and demanding that the Centre explain the circumstances surrounding it to the public.
The protesters also levelled allegations of corruption against Modi and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and demanded disclosure of details relating to the transaction. They called on the Prime Minister to apologise to the people over the issue.
KPCC general secretaries S. Manohar, Sudhakar Rao, Aditya, Umesh, Puttaraju, Kushal Gowda, Madhav Hanur, Sai Naveen, Kishore, Praveen and Shaheen Sharif participated in the protest.
