Son caught red-handed selling gold biscuits; theft was going on for 3 years

BENGALURU:

The city police have arrested a mother-son duo for allegedly stealing cash and gold ornaments from Bollywood actor Boman Irani’s cousin’s house in the Ulsoor police limits.

Following a complaint by Khurshid Irani (59) at the Ulsoor police station, the police caught the son red-handed while he was selling gold biscuits stolen from her flat at Embassy Crown, Aga Abbas Ali Road.

The duo have been identified as Mary Alice (65) and her son Michael Vincent (22) of KG Halli. Mary is said to have been working in Khurshid’s house since the last 25 years while Michael was reportedly in debt after losing money in IPL betting.

Though the theft case was registered with the Ulsoor police, the duo were arrested following investigation by the Byappanahalli police.

A top police officer said, “”We had arrested Michael in another case and had recovered gold biscuits from him, which were stolen from Khurshid’s house.”

Mary was allegedly stealing gold ornaments, Indian curreny and US dollars from Khurshid’s house and Michael was allegedly selling them. According to the cops, the theft was going on since the last 3 years.

As per the FIR filed on December 4,  7 gold biscuits weighing 700 grams each, Rs 85 lakh in cash, 15,000 US dollars worth Rs 11 lakh and other gold valuables were stolen.
