Vote on land reforms bill was not allowed, tweets Suresh Kumar
BENGALURU:
With the legislative council witnessing fractious scenes between the ruling party and the opposition till late into Saturday night, the council chairperson sitting in the chair K C Kondaiah (congress) adjourned the proceedings, leading to Education Minister Suresh Kumar tweeting his dismay over the chairperson’s action.
Even after the council was adjourned, members of the ruling BJP were heard raising slogans like ‘Anti-Dalit Congress’. The fractious debate on Rule 330 in connection with the DJ Halli riots in August continued till 12.40 am, whereupon the chair adjourned the session with the playing of the national anthem.
Minister Suresh Kumar tweeted, “It must be said that the chairperson of the legislative council, who has adjourned the council indefinitely by playing the national anthem, has not allowed a vote on the (land reforms) bill. I am leaving disappointed. Never should an umpire be like this.”
