Metal Chain Stuck in Train Door Caused Temporary Disruption at Cubbon Park Metro Station, Preliminary Probe Finds
Bengaluru, June 26: A passenger’s metal chain getting lodged in the train’s door guideway caused the temporary disruption of Metro services at Cubbon Park Metro Station on the Purple Line on Thursday evening, according to the preliminary investigation conducted by the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL).
According to a media release issued by BMRCL, the incident occurred at Cubbon Park Metro Station, resulting in a temporary disruption of Metro services between 7:36 pm and 7:54 pm after one of the train doors failed to close properly.
The preliminary investigation carried out by the Operations and Maintenance teams found that a metal chain belonging to a passenger became trapped in the train’s door guideway, preventing the doors from closing completely and causing the temporary operational delay.
Following the incident, BMRCL conducted a comprehensive technical inspection of the train and its door systems.
The inspection confirmed that no technical fault or malfunction was found in the train or its door mechanism, the corporation said.
BMRCL reiterated that passenger safety remains its highest priority and said it is committed to providing safe, reliable and uninterrupted Metro services.
The corporation also said the incident was promptly attended to by its operational teams, following which normal services resumed.
