HASSAN: A man and his father-in-law died while his wife was seriously injured in a hit-and-run accident on the Shettyhalli bypass road in Channarayapatna taluk on Saturday. The deceased are Madhu (35) of Nagenahalli village in Arasikere taluk and Javaraiah (65) of Devihalli in Belur taluk.
The father-in-law died while being shifted to Hassan.
Madhu runs an automobile spares store and was returning with his wife Geetha and father-in-law Javaraiah from Bengaluru in their car (KA 35 M 2916) when one of its tyres got punctured. They were fixing the spare wheel when a speeding gas tanker coming from Bengaluru knocked them down. The tanker driver fled without stopping.
Madhu died on the spot while Javaraiah, who was administered first aid at a hospital in Channarayapatna died while being shifted to Hassan. Madhu’s wife Geetha is admitted at the Channarayapatna hospital. The Channarayapatna traffic police have registered a case.
