BENGALURU:

After being initially refused a bed in Manipal Hospital, former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy could breathe easy upon getting admitted at Apollo Hospital on Bannerghatta Road.

Kumaraswamy was diagnosed with the coronavirus on Saturday morning and was quarantined at a private hotel after he failed to get a bed at Manipal Hospital.

He has now been admitted to Apollo Hospital. Health Minister Dr K Sudhakar had called Kumaraswamy and had promised to arrange for his admission in a health facility of his choice.

Grateful HDK

Kumaraswamy tweeted his thanks to Dr Sudhakar, Dr Manjunatha, head of cardiology at Jayadeva Hospital, and even to Manipal Hospital which later managed to arrange a bed for him.

Sudhakar clarifies

Later in the day, speaking to the media, Sudhakar clarified that there was no shortage of beds at Manipal Hospital.

“I personally spoke to former CM HD Kumaraswamy and he said that as he was treated for a heart condition at Apollo Hospital, he wished to get admitted in the same hospital,” Sudhakar said.
