Karnataka Cabinet Portfolios Reset: D.K. Shivakumar Gets Finance, 22 Ministers Assigned Key Departments
Bengaluru, August 12: Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot has allocated portfolios with immediate effect to Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar and 22 Cabinet ministers, assigning the Chief Minister Finance, Cabinet Affairs and several other key departments, according to a notification issued on Wednesday.
The notification, issued on the advice of the Chief Minister under Article 166(3) of the Constitution and Rule 5 of the Karnataka Government (Transaction of Business) Rules, 1977, places Finance, Cabinet Affairs, Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms, Intelligence, Information, Law, Justice and Human Rights, Parliamentary Affairs and Legislation, Agriculture Marketing, Commissionerate of Town and Country Planning, all urban local bodies falling under the BDA and BMRDA areas, and all unallotted portfolios with Shivakumar.
The portfolio allocation spreads major departments across the 22 other ministers. B.Z. Zameer Ahmed Khan has been allotted Housing, while Ramalinga Reddy gets Forest, Ecology and Environment. Lakshman Savadi has been given Co-operation, excluding Agriculture Marketing, and Rudrappa Manappa Lamani has been assigned Sugar and Textiles.
K.H. Muniyappa has been allotted Social Welfare, while Shivaraj Tangadagi gets Backward Classes Welfare and Kannada and Culture. U.T. Khader has been assigned Minority Welfare, Haj and Wakf, along with Health and Family Welfare. T. Raghumurthy gets ST Welfare.
Dr. Ajay Singh has been allotted Minor Irrigation and Science and Technology, while Cheluvarayaswamy gets Major and Medium Irrigation. Madhu Bangarappa has been assigned Primary and Secondary Education, and Basavaraj Raya Reddy gets Higher Education. Shivalinge Gowda has been allotted Excise from the Finance Department.
Puttaranga Shetty has been assigned Animal Husbandry and Sericulture. Vijayananda Kashappanavar gets Small Scale Industries and Public Enterprises, while Santosh Lad has been allotted Labour and Employment.
K.S. Basvanthappa has been given Muzrai, Fisheries, Ports and Inland Water, while S.S. Mallikarjun gets Mines and Geology and Horticulture. Rizwan Arshad has been assigned Food and Civil Supply and Consumer Affairs.
Narendra Swamy has been allotted Agriculture, H.C. Balakrishna gets Municipal Administration, and B. Nagendra has been assigned Planning and Statistics.
