Belagavi, Dec. 10: The Karnataka Government is pushing forward with the ambitious Kalyana Patha four-lane road project, which aims to seamlessly connect northern and southern Karnataka through the Bidar–Chamarajanagar highway. The works are currently underway across Bidar, Kalaburagi, Yadgir, Koppal, Raichur, Ballari, and Vijayanagara, Minister for Public Works Satish Jarkiholi informed the Legislative Council on Tuesday.

Responding to a starred question raised by member Shashil G. Namoshi, the Minister said the project is being executed through the Karnataka Rural Road Development Agency (KRRDA). Under the Kalyana Patha initiative, 1,124.70 km of road works have been taken up at an estimated cost of ₹1,000 crore.

Out of 286 works, 281 are in progress, while five works are currently in the tendering stage. So far, 75 km have been completed, with ₹150 crore already spent, according to the KRRDA progress report.

The Minister emphasised that rural road connectivity is fundamental to boosting economic and social development. Converting village roads into all-weather routes ensures better access to district and taluk centres, hospitals, markets, and educational institutions, thereby accelerating overall regional development.
“The Kalyana Patha project is designed to address this need and strengthen rural mobility across Kalyana Karnataka,” he added.
