Padarayanapura ‘connection’ had set off panic
BENGALURU:
In a considerable relief to the state administration, Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai, Bengaluru police commissioner Bhaskar Rao and another 100 policemen have tested negative for Covid-19.
The samples of the Home Minister and all the policemen were collected on Sunday evening. The reports came on Monday evening and all of them tested negative.
On Tuesday, police commissioner Bhaskar Rao tweeted: “Led by our Home Minister Sh Basavaraj Bommai, 100 of us policemen who had ventured into Padarayanapura underwent the Covid-19 test and to much relief came negative. Blessings of Bangaloreans.”
The Home Minister had led a police team to Padarayanapura after some elements opposed the health workers undertaking quarantine procedures.
Around 119 persons were arrested for vandalizing public property, and were shifted to Ramanagara jail. There, 5 of the accused reportedly tested positive for Covid-19. This had created panic among the police force and in political circles.
