GBA Directs Vacant Site Owners in Bengaluru to Clear Waste by August 15 or Face Penalties
Bengaluru: Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) Chief Commissioner M. Maheshwar Rao has directed owners of all vacant sites in Bengaluru to remove garbage, debris and other waste materials from their properties on or before August 15, 2026.
According to the advisory, failure to comply will attract a fine of ₹25,000 for the first violation. Repeat violations will invite penalties ranging from ₹50,000 to ₹1 lakh. The cost incurred by the civic authority for clearing waste from non-compliant sites will also be recovered from property owners along with their property tax.
The GBA has appealed to citizens to report vacant sites that remain uncleared after August 15 by sending the location details and GPS coordinates through WhatsApp to 94481 97197. The identity of complainants will be kept confidential.
The authority has also instructed owners to maintain fencing or compound walls around cleaned vacant sites to prevent illegal dumping of waste.
