Extend SCOUT programme beyond three years, CM D.K. Shivakumar tells Higher Education Department
BENGALURU: Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Monday urged the Higher Education Department and the British Council to extend the SCOUT programme for talented undergraduate students beyond its proposed three-year period.
He launched SCOUT-2.0—Scholars for Outstanding Undergraduate Talent—at Vidhana Soudha and told participating students to aspire to become job creators rather than merely job seekers.
Shivakumar said opportunities under the programme should reach talented students across Karnataka, including rural areas from Chamarajanagar to Bidar, and not remain concentrated in Bengaluru.
Former higher education minister and MLA M.C. Sudhakar, MLAs Vijayanand Kashappanavar and Darshan Dhruvanarayan, British Deputy High Commissioner Owen Richards, British Council South India director Janaka Pushpanathan and Higher Education Secretary Tulasi Maddineni attended the programme.
