Bengaluru, June 23: Bengaluru District In-Charge Secretary Ritwik Ranjanam Pandey has directed officials to take all necessary precautionary measures to ensure that the city does not face any shortage of drinking water in the coming months.
Chairing a meeting of district-level officers at the Bengaluru Urban Deputy Commissioner’s office, Pandey said forecasts indicate the possibility of below-normal rainfall in the district. He instructed officials to assess all available drinking water sources and expedite repairs of borewells, pipelines and other water supply infrastructure to ensure uninterrupted supply.
Focus on Agriculture and Farmers
The Secretary stressed that agricultural activities should not be affected due to any shortages. He directed the Agriculture Department to ensure that quality seeds and essential fertilizers, including urea and DAP, are available in adequate quantities at Raitha Samparka Kendras and departmental distribution centres.
He also emphasized the need to provide timely support to farmers to ensure smooth agricultural operations during the season.
Measures for Livestock Welfare
Pandey instructed Animal Husbandry Department officials to ensure the availability of quality fodder for livestock and create awareness among farmers regarding timely vaccination of animals to prevent disease outbreaks.
Mandatory Waste Segregation
The Secretary directed civic authorities to strictly implement waste segregation across the city.
He said the door-to-door waste collection system should be effectively implemented through sanitation workers and warned that strict action should be taken against individuals who dump garbage in prohibited areas.
Concerns Over Anganwadi Nutrition and Student Welfare

Calling the situation unacceptable, he directed the concerned departments to immediately address the deficiencies and provide the required facilities.
