Bengaluru: The Markazi Ruyath-e-Hilal Committee Karnataka has officially declared that the crescent moon marking the start of Shawwal was not sighted on March 19, 2026. As a result, Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on Saturday, March 21, 2026.

This announcement came after a monthly meeting of the Central Moon Committee of Karnataka, held post-Maghrib prayers at the Karnataka State Board of Auqaf office on Cunningham Road in Bengaluru. The meeting was chaired by Mufti Iftekhar Ahmed Qasmi Saheb, alongside notable members of the religious body.

The committee confirmed that the Shawwal crescent was not visible in Bengaluru or other major cities across India, including Delhi, Phulwari Sharif (Patna), and Hyderabad. Following thorough discussions and observations, the scholars reached a unanimous decision that the first day of Shawwal 1447 Hijri will be on March 21.

The committee emphasized that the religious scholars present at the meeting reviewed reports from various regions to ensure a coordinated and verified announcement for the community.

Prominent ulema in attendance included Maulana Abdul Qadir Wajid Saheb, Maulana Ejaz Ahmed Nadawi Saheb, Maulana Syed Manzoor Raza Abidi Saheb, and Maulana Qari Zulfiqar Raza Noori Saheb.

The official statement was issued by Mufti Dr. Mohamed Maqsood Imran Saheb Rashadi, the committee’s convenor, who confirmed the date and encouraged the community to observe Eid accordingly.

With this announcement, Muslims across Karnataka and other regions will complete 30 days of Ramadan, with Eid-ul-Fitr festivities set to commence on Saturday.
