BENGALURU:
In order to reduce congestion at railway stations in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, the Railways have increased the platform ticket price from Rs 10 to Rs 50 at 250 stations countrywide, including Bengaluru.
In Bengaluru, platform ticket prices have been hiked at the KSR Bengaluru, Yeshwantpur and Cantonment railway stations. Penalties for entering the station without tickets have also been increased.
The Senior DCM, Bengaluru Division, tweeted, “To restrict and regulate the entry of the general public at major railway stations in view of Covid-19, the cost of platform tickets is enhanced from Rs 10 to Rs 50 with immediate effect at KSR Bengaluru, Yeshwantpur and Bengaluru Cantonment stations of SBC Division, South Western Railway.”
