Bengaluru: In a major enforcement drive to clean up public spaces, the Bengaluru East City Corporation has removed over 1,872 unauthorized advertisements—including flex boards, banners, and buntings—within just three days, Commissioner D. S. Ramesh announced.

The special drive, running from April 5 to April 13, aims to restore the city’s visual appeal and ensure safer public spaces by eliminating illegal hoardings across key zones.

Special Teams Deployed:
To intensify the crackdown, dedicated teams have been formed in each zone under the leadership of Executive Engineers. These teams include Assistant Executive Engineers, Assistant Engineers, marshals, and Prahari units, with daily removal targets being strictly monitored.

Zone-wise Action:
In KR Puram Zone, large-scale operations across Horamavu, Ramamurthy Nagar, Vijnapura, Basavanapura, Devasandra, A. Narayanapura, Vignan Nagar, and HAL Airport area led to the removal of 812 illegal flex boards.

Meanwhile, in Mahadevapura Zone, enforcement drives in Hoodi, Garudachar Palya, Kadugodi, Hagadur, Doddanekundi, Marathahalli, Varthur, and Bellandur resulted in the removal of 1,060 unauthorized flex boards, banners, and buntings.

Overall, between April 5 and April 7 alone, more than 1,872 illegal advertisements were cleared from public places, roadsides, drains, and major traffic corridors.

Strict Legal Warning:
Commissioner Ramesh warned that putting up unauthorized advertisement boards is a punishable offence under the Karnataka Open Places (Prevention of Disfigurement) Act. Violators will face strict action, including fines and criminal cases.

Public Advisory:
The civic body has urged citizens and organizations to obtain proper permissions before installing any advertisement boards and to cooperate in maintaining the city’s cleanliness, aesthetics, and public safety.

Officials stated that such enforcement drives will continue in the coming days as part of a sustained effort to curb illegal advertisements across Bengaluru.
