BELAGAVI:

An ambulance in front of the Belagavi district hospital was set on fire and some vehicles were damaged by relatives of a Covid suspect who died on Wednesday night.

The man died in the ICU at BIMS Hospital, and the relatives alleged that he had not been treated on time. They set fire to the ambulance that had brought the patient from Athani and stoned police vehicles and other cars, but were stopped by the cops from assaulting the doctors. The ambulance driver and a nurse who had accompanied the patient had a lucky escape. Firefighters came to the spot and extinguished the fire.

District Deputy Commissioner MG Hiremath, Superintendent of Police Laxman Nimbaragi, Commissioner of Police Thyagaraj and Zilla Panchayat CEO Rajendra visited the spot.
