Directs officials to monitor measures strictly

BENGALURU:

Soon after it became official that four persons from Bengaluru have been confirmed corona virus-positive, Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa reviewed the situation and checked on the administration’s readiness to tackle the disease.

Both Health and Family Welfare Minister B Sriramulu and Medical Education Minister Dr K Sudhakar briefed the chief minister about the situation.

A techie who returned from the US, his wife, daughter are infected with the deadly disease, the CM said, adding, “I don’t have any reports that any more are affected.”

Yediyurappa warned medical stores who are selling mask and sanitizers at inflated prices of strict action. He directed officials to take action against those who are violating the rules and regulations in place.

The CM said, “Already four from the city have been infected with the disease. All of them got infected after a city-based techie returned from the US via Dubai on March 1. Due to him, his wife and his daughter were infected. I have directed the officials to be more cautious in tackling the situation.”

The meeting was attended by all department officials from Bengaluru Urban and Bengaluru Rural, Including BBMP. Directions were issued to the civic agency to maintain cleanliness in the city.

Avoid hype, media told

The Chief Minister requested the media to not hype up the sensitive issue by creating a panic situation among the common people. “People should not panic as everything is under control. Don’t fall prey to rumours. We have taken strict measures at the airport to screen every person who is coming from abroad,” Yediyurappa said.
