Huge support on Twitter for IAS officer Captain Manivannan after he posts that he has handed over charge of both posts as Labour and Information Principal Secy

BENGALURU:

The state government has stirred a hornet’s nest by relieving IAS officer Captain Manivannan from two portfolios which he was discharging very efficiently. Netizens’ anger boiled over after Manivannan’s post on Tuesday morning stating that he had handed over charge of both portfolios — Principal Secretary in both the Labour and Information departments.

They have  initiated a Twitter campaign, #BringBackCaptain, which is trending ever since 9 am on Tuesday.
At 8.58 am, Manivannan tweeted: “Yesterday at 9 pm, I have handed over charge of both depts (Labour & DIPR). Thank YOU for the guidance and support! Please extend the same to my successor.”

“…I look forward to new challenges. I can be contacted thru the Telegram messenger https://t.me/Captain_Manivannan,” he concluded.

Soon after his post, scores of followers stepped up their demand to ‘bringbackcaptain’.

Lalita Pulavarti @Lalita_Pulavart replied to Manivannan’s tweet: “Captain, it beats me how upright and efficient officers like you put up with this crap. To be kicked around by these politicians and vested interests. It is a shame on K’taka that such things happen. Chest thumping that we are so great – all eyewash. Best wishes to you.”

AutoRaja @AutoRaja1212 tweeted: “In Karnataka an IAS officer has been removed from current role as Principal Secretary of the Labour Department as well as the Information and Public Relations Department. Reasons: He was sincere & hard working @CMofKarnataka @IASassociation #BringBackCaptain #BringBackManivannan.”

Another netizen Poornima Shetty @Poori5678 said: “You are an extraordinary human being sir, absolutely proud of your leadership, we need people like you to be the torch bearer of actionism. Was a privilege to have interacted with you Sir. Folded hands God Bless & Best Wishes #BringBackCaptain #BringBackManivannan”

Rohith Simha @rohith_simha: “Captain you have a permanent posting in our hearts which no one take away!”

suhas @suhas_azadi put it thus: “Sir, thousands of us volunteers & common folk experienced exemplary beauracracy for the first time bcoz of You. We saw what one able leader can do to engage citizens, Thanks to you. You will be missed not just your by department but also us.”
